I am currently reading a yellow book title "Be excellent in anything" by Tony Swartz. One thing I could say, its refreshing! The book teach us to be efficient and excellent in whatever jobs we perform with simple language and easy to do practices. And a little bit on how to eat correctly. It Is important because through correct eating we will have plenty of energy to work. And a lot more. This book is worth to read and reread and reread and reread..... Happy reading!

Birthday Boy

Weekend minggu ni ada 2 aktiviti menarik yang laki bini berdua ni buat. 1. Birthday party Niyyaz and 2. POA CSR.

Niyyaz is already 12 months.hehe. Lucky 10.10.10 boy. Sweet 1 birthday dia Aisyah and Sujan wat kat KFC Telok Cempedak atau nama rasminya KFC Palm Beach. Haha. Nama tak menahan. Korang mesti tak percaya kan nama KFC tu. So sebagai bukti, nah!

Esoknya pulak kitorang pegi CSR for POA di Binjai Kemaman. This is one of company initiative to give back to the community. Sangat bagus program ni sebenarnya. Disamping memberi balik, boleh berpeluh :)

In short, a full (meaningful) plan weekend is a very good weekend spend. It's rejuvenating and proves to lift up spirit for working days the week after. Hope to have more weekend like this.

Singapore Part 2 : Dating!

Lepas first round turun Singapore berjalan raya, the day after, 2nd round! kitorang dating pulak. This time thank you to alang sebab bagi pinjam EZ pass card (equivalent to Touch & Go) in Malaysia.

Mula2 the two of us jalan2 naik MRT pusing tengok Merlion and Marina Sand. datang sini solely for amik gambar. Nice view, tapi masa kitorang kat sini panas terik. Tapi ramai je orang, sume tourist, sume tengah sakan amik gambar.

Puas amik gambar, terus menuju ke Sentosa Island. Tak sempat masuk Universal Studio sebab dah lambat so we decided to take few rides in Sentosa. Ni lah moment2 yang sempat diambil di Sentosa.

Singapore Part 1 : How to eat bone steak (sup tulang merah)

Tahun ini rasa sangat2 bertuah kerana disamping dapat beraya di Kuching, tahun ni kami berdua dapat beraya di Johor Bharu bersama saudara mara sebelah arwah abah. This is the first time my dear wife dapatt turun and melawat semua adek beradek abah. Seronok!

Sambil menyelam di Johor Bharu, kitorang minum air dengan melawat Singapura. First time jugak for her (masa kecik2 dia ada pegi, tapi tak ingat katanya). And.. both of us agak kagum dengan keseragaman flat HDB. Macam lego je. haha

Owh, BTW Haikal and Maryam pon turun tapi asing dari KL. Diorang jadi tourist guide kitorang pergi beraya di Singapore. Lepas raya at Alang's and jalan2 jap kat Orchard Road, we went for ziarah at Tok Long's. My opah's big brother. 76 years old and he is still healthy. Siap boleh driving lagi.

Lepas borak2 and catching up, dia ajak makan kat West Coast and antara benda yang kitorang takkan miss is bone steak atau sup tulang merah! gambar macam kat atas. hehe. Kalau makan sup ni tangan konfem merah.

Seafood at Kelulut and Riyaz Heritage KT

Minggu ni macam lawak sikit. Sang suami di Kuantan and Si isteri di Kuala Terangganu. Tuntutan kerja (la sangat). However, my session ends earlier on Wednesday whilst my dear wife's training end on Thursday. So, after work on Thursday I drive to fetch her up at KT and spend one night at Riyaz Heritage. She spends the whole week there during the training( how lucky).

With her is one of our best friend VJ. partner in crime melarikan diri di KT for the whole week. hehe. Since VJ's there and best jugak makan seafood ramai2, Khamis malam Jumaat tu kitorang makan kat Kelulut. Main course of course kerang bakar. Disulami dengan seafood yang lain2.

One of the main complaint my dear wife selalu cakap kat kawan2 is too much of her picture eating in our camera. Which is the most logical thing, we always eat out (with me carrying camera) and she eats directly in front of me. haha... untuk edisi ini, VJ since aku tau memang tak ramai pon yg baca blog ni, aku insert gambar ko tengah makan! hahaha...

Then we proceed to Riyyaz. And one word tu describe Riyaz is "berlagak". hehe.mentang2 banyak ruang, they built it lavishly (at least in term of size). sumenye besar2. Even the room balcony ada 2 sun bathing seat. berlagak kan?

One more thing, this place had a nicetest view for breakfast. Unfortunately the breakfast itself not the bestest at all. hehe

Overall, it was very nice experience. And borak2 dgn VJ never boring.ko migrate nanti kitorang komfem turun. Thank best engineering buddy :)

VW Volkswagen Das Auto

On the 8th of September, on the way sending Sara to airport, we saw a very big and glowing VW tent. We found out it is for VW auto show for that weekend.The glowing dome looks something like this.

We were very excited and decided to go there on the next day. I was expecting a very elaborate museum like VW line up of cars. From the 70's to the current model judging by the enormous size of the tent. End up there were only 7 cars in the show! And the most disappointing part is we spent 3 hours waiting to get in the show! This is how a 7 cars show took us 3 hours.

Finally!

Car show above is in the big dome that we saw the day before. The line out their cars and drove it across the dome for 2 minutes and followed by VW commercial for another 5 minutes. Turn out this is THE bottleneck why we have to wait so long outside. Because there are only so much seats in the dome theater. And they didn't put it in parallel with the main exhibition that comes next.

And as I said, there were only 7 cars exhibited! What a waste of time. Such a waste of all the advert and setting up all the facilities. If I were to give points I will give 1/10 for this event. They set up the place grandly but they failed to manage the overall flow of the show. Jangan marah Das Auto :)

i CITY !

First time sampai i-CITY. Macam budak kecik seronoknya.Selalu lalu je tepi i-CITY tu. hari ini dapat masuk dalam i-CITY. Nice place, penuh dengan lampu. Tapi as a beginner, kami tertipu dengan mainan mainan yang menjanjikan all the fluffy toys. Banyak jugakla habis. Lepas main game baru tau yang ada tempat lampu yang lebih besar. Hehe..

Lepas dah discover padang yang banyak lampu barula tau besarnya i CITY tu. ingatkan kecik je. As ususal cara yang terbaik to enjoy the view is from the top! jadik kitorang pun naik sky train untuk menengok nengok seluruh tempat itu.

Overall it's a nice place to relax and enjoy the light. Wonder, do they switch off the lights during earth hour? :)

Raya! : Part 2

Raya! : Part 1

Tahun ni the two of us raya di Kuching. di perantauan..hehe. Macam2 benda menarik di Kuching waktu raya ni, antaranya pakai baju melayu sepanjang minggu, raya sampai tengah malam dan macam2 lagi ;).

Kitorang landed 2 days before raya, and my first mission was bazar ramadhan! Unfortunately sebab dah dekat sangat nak raya, banyak kedai dah tutup. But at least sempat kenal dengan menatang ni :)

Nama dia Kelupis, dalam dia macam pulut/ketupat palas. Sedap makan dengan rendang. Hidangan berbuka..selain tu seperti biasa, banyak noodles base food di Kuching ni kolok,laksa etc2. Nasik? tak jumpa pon org jual nasik. hehe.

Lagi satu tempat yang wajib pegi raya adalah..

Nothing special tempat ni..cuma nama dia catchy..haha..

Pagi raya seperti biasa, bersalam dengan ahli keluarga..sama macam my side, my in law side also consist of a big family.

Bersalaman seluruh keluarga.. and ini pulak parents in law..

One more thing, kat Kuching malam raya semua rang main mercun. kitorang main jugak bunga api, tapi mana gambar dia ye..part 2 la sambung :) hahaha

KL for Ramadhan weekend

Both of us went back for a weekend in KL during Ramadhan. We have 2 goals in mind during this trip. One, baju raya and second, bazar Ramadhan spree!! I wont elaborate on goal 1. Let us talk about goal 2.

Bukak pose umah opah.

We have 3 break fast session in KL. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday mama suggested we go to Opah's in Klang for breaking fast. So kitorang pegi. Luckily petang tu hujan lebat! So, if we went to Bazar Ramadhan we will be soaked wet.hehe.. Malam (pagi) tu otw back singgah Wiliam for early sahur.Makanan dia boleh tahan tapi dia charge suka hati dia je..haha.. We had mee sup (but of course William gives some fancy name to it), Chicken wrap, butter cheese nan I think and..lupa lak lagi satu tu apa.

I am always fascinated with my dear wife passion with baking (walaupun baru bape kali je pon dia bake since kitorang ada oven :) ). Tapi semangat tu 10 out of 10 sebab semua pon kitorang makan grill (and healthy now). Last weekend, masa untuk satu lagi experiment with the oven. and the menu are..... Mac & cheese and kek batik!!!

Both cooked soo well and sangat sedap!! Thank you sayang.. Keep on your good work mencuba pelbagai lagi resepi..jangan berhenti mencuba..we will always have two of our bestest cooking guru to refer.. En google and icip2. hahaha

KT trip Aug 2011

Yesterday my dear wife and I went to KT is search of our baju raya. It will be one of our last trip to KT from Kerteh. But definitely wont be our last trip to KT (from wherever we live and make a living). Naturally, kalau pegi KT mesti pergi pasar payang.

Berbalik kepada cerita asal, tak banyak kedai bukak di pasar payang and bazaar warisan. Not sure due to Ramadhan or Jumaat. Since the search at payang brings no catch, we try to find kedai2 at KT, but the scorching heat is unbearable. So, we follow our instinct, cari air cond at Giant/Mydin

Incidentally, we found a huge bazaar in the middle of Giant and Mydin. Aircond and lots of choices. Haha. My dear wife dah senyum sampai telinga. Myself, walaupun not the biggest fan of shopping, at least I had to endure it in air cond. hehe..

My dear wife indulge in cheese nan while me myself makan nasik kandar (Chow Kit's still the bestest). Lepas makan kitorang sambung carik baju kat tempat sama. And after we (she) got what's in our list, we head back to Kerteh and singgah Kelulut makan kerang bakar.

In whatever things we do in life, there will be times when kita rasa we just couldnt move on. Macam mana buat pon rasa dah x semangat. When thatt time comes, you need to recharge yourself. Find anything to do and forget your problem. Recharge..jumpa family, bersukan etc..

Selamat berpuasa kepada semua!! This year's puasa gonna be a short one rasanya. Jadual dah pack dengan macam2 nak buat. I mean dekat tempat kerja.

Personally pon kena jugak. Nak bukak pose umah mama. dalam minggu ke 2 or ke 3.. nampak macam banyak cuti bulan ni tapi tak tau suit work schedule or not. This is one disadvantage of working in kilang :(. Takpelah, dah rezeki kat situ.

Last Weekend Before Puasa

Last weekend before puasa, my dear wife and I went back to KL for Sara's convo and to sambut 1st Ramadhan in KL. Tapi niat murni kami dibantutkan due to rupa-rupanya puasa will be either Monday or Tuesday. So punahlah harapan nak bukak puasa makan makanan bazar Ramadhan in KL.

However, we didnt miss out to do last minute eating (ada ke such word?) before puasa around few of our fav spots in KL.

KHAMIS
Dinner Char kuew tiaw @ Mali's (wifey had the famous kuetiaw, me opt for nasi lemak)

JUMAAT
Brunch @ IKEA. as usual meat balls and vege pasta
Tea @ Hometown kopitiam. ABC, layer tea with toast and yong tau fu.

Dinner @ KLCC food court wifey chose kebab with fries, I need some carbs and chose claypot. rice. Sara join us and had lasagna.
Supper supper? yup supper. Domino's pizza. (kerteh takde) haha

SABTU
Breakfast Lontong @ KTM sentul. Kedai makcik ni sentiasa penuh and lontong habis around 8.30 AM!
Lunch tapau Chicken Rice Shop for the whole family. Damn the foods here are pricey, I mean tak berbaloi with what U spend.
Dinner went to satay Samuri after Sara's convo. Double celebration, Sara convo and Haikal birthday.

That summarize it all. gila melantak before pose. Hehe.. selamat berpose to everybody (whoever read this).. Kat bawah ni some pictures mengikut urutan melantak :p

Weekend ni both of us balik KL for Sara's convo and plannya nak pose 1st day kat KL. Sekali bila check balik pose start Isnin, so xdapat la nak 1st pose in KL. Congrats Sara. Diploma in early childhood. Hmm..not a very common degree rite? But she's enjoying it and lebih dari berminat nak pursue degree.

As of now, semua azam tahun baru maseh on track. Will continue doing all lil' activities untuk menyokong the azam cause there was a saying, satu benda yang kita buat 40 hari berturut-turut akan jadi habitat eh silap, habit dalam hidup kita dan kita akn terus melakukannya..

Second news, tok nek (moyang) sakit. Mama pegi Perlis semalam. She's 90 plus I think. Entah, orang dulu2 umur susah sikit nak betul2 accurate sebab lahir tak daftar. Tapi memang dia sudah tua (yela cicit pon dah umor 28 tahun). Kami sekeluarga sentiasa mendoakan kesejahteraan dan kesihatan tok nek. amin.

Last week, first time makan cendol kat tepi pantai Paka. Baru la tau, cendol Paka pakai ice cube, ais tu dia tak kisar mcm cendol2 yang pernah saya makan sebelom2 ini. hehe...

Good Bye 2010! Hi 2011!

Setahun lagi dah berlalu. Macam macam perkara yang terjadi. Nak disorotkan 2010 ni ada rancangan yang berjaya dan ada jugak yang kurang. Walaubagaimanapun, masa tak akan menunggu kita, makanya tahun yang baru itu kenalah juga ditempuh. Betul betul bersemangat untuk tempuh tahun yang baru ini dengan pelbagai perancangan dan impian.

1. Reading : kena disiplin untuk luangkan masa membaca.

2. Be financially stronger in order to contribute more. Need to buy some assets for future.

3. Kurangkan berat badan by 5kg. Ini kena displin sikit, kena betul2 spend 20 minit sehari, 3 kali seminggu bersenam,berjalan,berpeluh what ever physical activity supaya those extra fat will go away and never come back (finger cross).

4. Enjoy every moment of my life. After all it's not the destination, it's the journey that's matter.

p/s try to commit on one hobby starting this year, taking picture of yourself everyday. You might finds it very much valuable (and sentimental) 10,20,30 years down the road.

I am currently reading my wedding 'hantaran' book, A short history of nearly everything.
Kudos to Bill Bryson (the author), he writes a quite dry subject (history + science) in a very interesting manner.
A lot of the subject make us think and appreciate how wonderful god creations are.
Owh, and the book will be the second one to be in my moleskin!
Hehe, gonna make full use of it.

This is my conversation with an expat in my office. He might not be the expert but his point of view worth to consider.

Uzaini : Do you invest in gold?
Sanjay : Yes, in fact it is one of the best investment.
Uzaini : Why is it so?
Sanjay : Gold appreciate averaging 16% per annum, which is far higher than inflation. You know why? because India is the world largest gold market. We (the Indians) uses gold in almost anything for gift, wedding,newborn,birthday etc. and our inflation rate is 8%, so as long as India people still buying gold and consider it as investment I can assure you the gold price will appreciate higher than our inflation rate
Uzaini : hmm
Sanjay : With that rate you can quadruple your investment in 10 years.
Uzaini : I dont think so, quadruple means gold will be around RM500 per gram in 10 years time.
Sanjay : See, when I start my life with my wife 23 years ago, our household expenses is just Rp 400 (RM 40) per month. Now it went up to Rp 40,000 (RM4000) per month with 1 child of course. (Ok this figure is fictitious since I dont want to reveal Sanjay's real expenditure, but the scale of appreciation in his expenditure is true). So, it will be there eventually.
Uzaini : hmmm
Sanjay : So, systematically put your money aside every month and buy gold biscuit.
Uzaini : Ok

Delayed Gratification 1

Hi there,

This week we have quite a long weekend in Malaysia. One day off for Maal hijrah, Islam Lunar New Year. Long weekend means a very lazy bump going to work tomorrow. Did few things this weekend, will share it in different entry.

I am a big fan of delayed gratification. Phrase that popularly use by lots of so call personal finance expert. It's basically about holding up your wants of today to get a better prize tomorrow. Seems like so complicated and hard to do. But believe it or not we often practice delayed gratification in our life just that we didnt notice it.

Simple example, during dinner you are eating your favorite food for example shrimp. What will you do with your favorite part of the meal? You leave it untouch until you almost done. You put your favorite part last! That's delayed gratification!

Another example is sacrificing your good early day of life in college. While your friends enjoy their youth life, you spend those 4 years studying. For what? A bette future! classic example of delayed gratification huh?

It is also true with money! Put it aside in first few years and reap the benefit later in bigger and sweeter way. I could not finish this in 1 post. Let digest this first. There's more to come. Till then..da..

Weekend at BGWP

It was a great weekend spent at Bukit Gambang Water Park(BGWP). After a quite exhausting Family Day Event, we were given a free pass to the water park. Not that big but quite decent. Although I am lil' bit uneasy with the 'charge it all' policy. Hehe, you cannot move around without money nowadays. There are some photos that worth sharing that day but internet connection s***s today. Hmm, I guess I should start 'potong' as per the advertisement.

The whole Gambang experience is nice, with a lot of bitter sweet memory. Will always remember the experience organising the Sukaneka. All of the staff and their family show a good sport. Wonder when I would start mine (ehem).

There's a lot of thing to write about BGWP inclusive of the service apartment promotion that I bumped into several time in last couple of months. Didnt regret not buying it, although the place is jammed packed now. I believe in full control in property investment. ok, that's a good full entry in the future. hehe. Till then, drive safely.
